Football Falls To No. 13 Richmond, 13-10, In Overtime

KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) - Doug Kirchner kicked a 25-yard field goal in overtime to give Richmond a 13-10 win over Rhode Island Saturday.

Rhode Island's Vince Nedimyer came up short on a fourth down keeper play from the 1-yard line by in overtime, sealing the win for Richmond.

Richmond's Sean Gustus rushed 32 times for 128 yards and completed four of five passes for 60 yards. TyRonne Turner added 63 yards on 15 carries.

Rhode Island's David Jamison led all rushers with 133 yards on 20 carries, and scored his team's only touchdown on a 15-yard run late in the fourth quarter.

Richmond (7-2, 5-1 Atlantic 10) took the lead in the second quarter, on a 24-yard Kirchner field goal. A 31-yard Shane Laisle field goal tied the score at three going into the half.

Turner went in from five yards out early in the third quarter to put Richmond ahead again 10-3. Rhode Island (2-7, 2-5) tied the game with 3:15 left on Jamison's off-tackle scoring run.
