Men's Basketball Defeats Worldwide All-Stars In Exhibition Opener

KINGSTON, R.I. - Junior Tavorris Bell scored a game-high 31 points to lead Rhode Island to an impressive 93-61 exhibition victory over the Worldwide All-Stars at Keaney Gymnasium on Wednesday evening.

Four players scored in double-figures for Rhode Island as sophomore Brian Woodward and junior Dinno Daniels each had 17 points while junior Zach Marbury notched 14. Daniels dished out a game-high eight assists while junior Marcus Evans and sophomore Howard Smith each pulled down seven rebounds.

The two teams played evenly through the first 10 minutes, with the Worldwide All-Stars clinging to an 18-17 lead at the 9:48 mark. With the score, 21-21, at the 7:45 mark, the Rams went on a 23-10 run to close out the half and take a 44-21 lead.

URI continued to build on its lead early in the second half, extending its advantage to 64-38 at the 13:03 mark. The Rams' biggest lead of the game came with 2:45 left in the contest after a lay-up from Woodward made the score 91-57.

The Rams will wrap up the exhibition season on Tuesday, Nov. 14 when they host the New York All-Stars at Keaney Gym at 7:30 p.m.
