Box Score

KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) - Mantas Storpirstis and Rob Sawicki hit 3-pointers in the second overtime to lift Hartford to a 91-88 victory over Rhode Island Saturday.

Wayne McClinton came off the bench to lead Hartford (3-7) with 19 points. Storpirstis had 17, Pierre Johnson 16 and Sawicki 15.

Rhode Island's Howard Smith had a chance to send the game into a third overtime, but missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer. He also missed a foul shot with two seconds left in regulation that would have won it for Rhode Island (4-9). Zach Marbury rebounded the miss, but his shot hit the front of the rim.

Marbury led Rhode Island with 21 points, including 13-of-16 from the line. Tavorris Bell added 19 and Dinno Daniels scored 17. Rhode Island took the lead in both overtimes, but could not hold on. Rhode Island used a 16-5 run to take a 36-29 halftime lead.

Hartford won despite 28 turnovers and 38 percent shooting. Rhode Island shot 37 percent and was outrebounded 56-38.

Even though 2,422 tickets were sold to the game, a winter storm limited attendance to 587, the smallest crowd to see a men's basketball game in Keaney Gymnasium since it opened in 1953.
