Rhode Island Falls To Fordham, 92-68

NEW YORK (AP) - Alejandro Olivares registered 18 points to lead five double-figure scorers as Fordham extended Rhode Island's losing streak to four Tuesday night with a 92-68 Atlantic-10 Conference victory.

Teremun Johnson followed with 16 points for Fordham (10-10, 3-5), who held a 45-35 halftime lead. Duke Freeman-McKaney was next with 15 points to go with a career-high 14 rebounds. Jason Harris added 14 points and Scott Harmatuk had 12.

Luther Clay, who had 12 rebounds, and Tavorris Bell each had 16 points for Rhode Island (5-16, 2-6).

The visitors had a 13-7 lead at 14:57 of the first half when Clay hit a jumper. Fordham, behind Johnson's five points, responded with a 14-0 run to take command 21-13 at 11:20.

Rhode Island got as close as seven twice in the second half, the last time being 45-38 on Justin Henry's two free throws at 18:18.

Harmatuk's two 3-pointers and another six points by Olivares paced a 17-6 surge that put the game out of reach 62-44 at 11:46.
