Rams Fall To Dayton, 77-51

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Brooks Hall came off the bench to score 16 points and Dayton used a 16-0 run to beat Rhode Island 77-51 Saturday night.

Dayton (20-6, 10-4 Atlantic 10) locked up its first 20-win regular season since 1969 and assured itself of the top seed in the conference's West Division.

Rhode Island (5-23, 2-13) did not score in the final 4 1/2 minutes of the first half.

With Dayton ahead 27-21, David Morris touched off the Flyers' spurt with a 3-pointer. Hall, Edwin Young and Matt Cooper each hit a pair of free throws, Young added a 3-pointer and Tony Stanley closed the half with a dunk for a 41-21 lead.

The lead never fell below 20 points in the second half.

Mark Ashman added 15 points, Stanley 12 and Yuanta Holland 11 for the Flyers, who had all 10 players score.

Zach Marbury scored 18 points and Tip Vinson had 16 for Rhode Island.

A capacity crowd of 13,553 was the third consecutive sellout at the University of Dayton Arena, marking the first time that has happened since the building opened 30 years ago.
