Football Falls To Delaware In Opener, 29-7

KINGSTON, R.I. -- Butter Pressey's 90-yard kickoff return to start the second half sparked Delaware to a 29-7 win over Rhode Island in the season opener for both clubs.

Pressey's return added to a Blue Hen 16-0 halftime lead.

Pressey's first score came in the second quarter on a 12-yard pass from senior quarterback Matt Nagy.

Nagy completed 14 of 25 passes, for 175 yards on the afternoon.

Delaware's steady offense converted eight of 11 third-down conversions in the first half. Delaware added their final score in the third on a Brett Veach 11-yard run.

Delaware limited Rhode Island's offense to 92 yards. The Rams lone score came from their defensive unit as linebacker Paul Picciotti recovered a fumble and pushed the ball in from 12 yards out with 4:50 left in the game.
