KINGSTON - Steve Campbell caught 19 passes and Eric Webber threw for
354 yards, including three touchdowns, as Brown beat Rhode Island 29-19
Saturday.
Campbell broke his own school record of 15 receptions, set last year against
Dartmouth, and finished with 218 yards and two touchdowns.
Brown (2-1) took a 7-0 first quarter lead on Campbell's 10-yard scoring pass
from Webber. Rhode Island (0-4) answered on their first play when freshman back
Wendall Williams scored from 67-yards on an option play.
A 15-yard touchdown catch by Brandon Buchanan gave Brown a 12-7 second
quarter lead, but Rhode Island scored on its next possession when quarterback Vince Nedimyer scored on a 70-yard run to put Rhode Island up 13-12.
Brown took an 18-13 lead into halftime after Campbells' 18-yard touchdown
catch.
Brown took control on a 19-yard field goal by Sean Jensen early in the
second half and a 20-yard touchdown run by Michael Malan in the fourth quarter.
Rhode Island finished the scoring on Nchendia Tajong's 3-yard touchdown with
9:30 remaining.
Nedimyer accounted for more than half of Rhode Island's 451 yards in total offense, passing for 183 yards and rushing for another 99.
