VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) - Lubos Barton had 14 points and 11 rebounds, and
Stalin Ortiz added 14 points to lead Valparaiso to a 68-43 win over Rhode
Island on Saturday night.
The Crusaders (6-2) went on a 14-0 run to start the game and led 29-18 at
the half on 32.1 percent field goal shooting. Valparaiso made 15 of 33 second
half shots to improve its shooting to 39.3 percent for the game.
Falu Antonio had 13 points and eight assists for Valparaiso. Mike Nelke
added 10 points, and Raitis Grafs had 11 rebounds for the Crusaders, who beat
the Rams on the boards 49-41.
Rhode Island (3-4), who is yet to shoot better than 40 percent this season,
made just 18 of 62 field goals for 29 percent shooting.
Dustin Hellenga led the Rams with 10 points and Steve Mello had nine.
