Men's Basketball Falls To Fordham, 71-58

KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) - Smush Parker scored all of his team-high 16 points in the second half on Sunday to lead Fordham to a 71-58 win over Rhode Island.

Parker scored a 3-pointer in a 7-0 run to open the second half that gave Fordham a 38-28 lead.

He also played a key role in a 13-6 run that gave Fordham (6-10, 2-3 Atlantic 10) a 53-42 lead with 9:30 to play. Parker hit two 3-pointers and assisted on Jeff McMillan's basket.

McMillan came off the bench to score 14 points and grab nine rebounds.

Rhode Island (4-12, 0-4) pulled within 59-52 on two free throws by Jamaal Wise with 6:40 to play, but Fordham answered with a basket from Steve Canal and a 3-pointer by Parker for a 64-52 lead.

Fordham led 31-28 at halftime despite turning the ball over 17 times.

Dustin Hellenga led Rhode Island with 17 points and Troy Wiley scored 14 in 14 minutes before fouling out. Duke Freeman-McKamey had 14 rebounds for Fordham, which held a 50-39 advantage on the boards.
