Rams Fall To Saint Joseph's, 71-58

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Damian Reid had a season-high 17 points on 6-of-6 shooting from the field as Saint Joseph's snapped a two-game losing streak with a 71-58 victory over Rhode Island on Thursday night.

Marvin O'Connor had 16 points, Na'im Crenshaw scored 15 points and Bill Phillips, who had been suffering from a flu for the last week, added 13 points, eight rebounds and a season-high seven assists for the Hawks (13-6, 7-0 Atlantic 10), who snapped a two-game losing streak but have won seven consecutive conference games.

Lazare Adingono scored 14 points and Troy Wiley added 12 for the Rams (5-13, 1-6), who have lost seven of their last eight and 12 of their last 14.

After Rhode Island pulled to within 10, 41-31, early in the second half, the Hawks went on a 16-2 run, sparked by seven points by Crenshaw and capped by a 3-pointer by O'Connor.

The Rams pulled back to within nine when a free throw by Troy Wiley made it 66-57 but a 3-pointer from the corner by Phillips and a dunk by Reid sealed the win.

Saint Joseph's went on a 23-2 run in the first half, taking an 18-point lead when a fast-break layup by Crenshaw made it 29-11 with 6:26 left. During the run, the Rams were 1-of-11 from the field and turned the ball over three times in the eight-minute spurt.

Rhode Island made just 10-of-32 (31 percent) from the field in the opening half.
