Men's Basketball Drops Decision To Temple, 71-42

KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) - Lynn Greer scored 18 points and Temple held Rhode Island to 29 percent shooting in a 71-42 win on Wednesday.

Rhode Island (6-14, 2-7 Atlantic 10) tied its season low scoring output in the loss.

Despite hitting only three of its first 24 shots, Rhode Island trailed just 16-9 with 7:12 left in the the first half.

But Temple (9-12, 6-3) found its shooting touch over the final 5:11 of the first half. A 14-2 run raised the Owls lead to 30-11 with 1:13 to play.

Alex Wesby, who hit a long jumper and a 3-pointer to start the Temple run, had 14 points and seven rebounds.

Temple opened the second half with a basket by Kevin Lyde and a 3-pointer from Wesby to take a 35-13 lead. Rhode Island never seriously threatened the rest of the game.

Dinno Daniels hit consecutive 3-pointers to make the score 44-27 with 13:09 to play, but that was as close as Rhode Island would get.

Marcus Evans led the Rams with 11 points and Daniels added 10.

Temple then embarked on an 11-0 run with 8:30 left in the second half, giving them a 60-31 lead with 5:41 remaining.
