KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) - Freshman quarterback Jason Davis ran for 72 yards and two touchdowns Saturday to lift Rhode Island to a 28-0 win over Bryant.

The Rams (1-0) scored twice in less than two minutes in the second quarter to break open a scoreless tie.

Justin Westley opened the scoring with a 10-yard run with 6:24 to play in the half, and Calvin Poole made it 14-0 with 4:36 left when he ran back a blocked punt 21 yards for a touchdown.

Davis scored on an 8-yard run late in the third quarter, then closed out the scoring with a 6-yard run midway through the fourth.

Division 2 Bryant (0-1) was led by quarterback Tony Granieri who had a team high 57 yards rushing and completed 7 of 8 passes for 60 yards. Bryant had 200 yards of offense but Rhode Island's defense kept the Bulldogs out of the end zone.
