Women's Soccer Defeated By Brown, 1-0

Providence, R.I. - The University of Rhode Island women's soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 decision against Brown in a non-conference contest at Stevenson Field in Providence, R.I., on Wednesday afternoon.

Brown's Kim LaVere scored the only goal of the evening at the 20:58 mark of the first half when she lofted a ball over the outstretched hands of Rhode Island senior keeper Jamie Epperlein from 40-yards out to give Brown a 1-0 lead. That would be the only scoring for the evening as the Bears held on for the win.

Rhode Island had a 10-6 advantage against Brown in shots.

Epperlein had two saves in goal for Rhode Island while junior Sarah Gervais made three stops in net for Brown.

With the loss, Rhode Island falls to 3-2-1 for the season while Brown improves to 3-1-1. The Rams will return to action on Friday, September 20 when they travel to Amherst, Mass., for the UMass Classic. The team will play against Auburn at 7:00 p.m.
