PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Luther Green rushed for 118 yards and Rhode Island scored 17 points off six turnovers to beat Brown 27-9 in a non-league game on Saturday.

Rhode Island (3-2) has won three consecutive games after losing its first two. The Rams recovered three Brown fumbles and intercepted three Brown passes to pick up their third straight win over Brown (1-2).

Green gave Rhode Island a 7-0 lead just 15 seconds into the game. Brown's Tristan Murray fumbled a pass from Kyle Slager and Rod Chase recovered on the Bears' 18. On the next play, Green bolted 18 yards to give the Rams a lead they did not relinquish.

The Rams used a fake punt to set up their next score when Justin Westley took the snap from center and ran 23 yards for a first down on Brown's 44. Shane Laisle capped the drive by tying a 29-year old school record with a 50-yard field goal that put Rhode Island ahead 10-0.

Jayson Davis, who gained 101 yards on 12 carries before leaving in the second period with a bruised leg, pushed the Rams' lead to 17-0 in the second quarter with a 24-yard TD run.

Slager completed 37 of 54 passes for 357 yards to lead Brown, and Lonnie Hill caught 15 passes for 158 yards.
