Dawan Robinson scored 16 of his game-high 20 points in the first half as the University of Rhode Island men's basketball team cruised to an 86-54 win over Czech-Select in the Rams' final exhibition game before their Nov. 21 season opener.
Robinson scored six points as Rhode Island jumped out to a 12-0 lead less than two minutes into the game. The Rams led 18-2 less than four minutes in and had a 45-32 advantage at halftime.
Four Rams reached double-figures in points with junior Dustin Hellenga scoring 13 points and senior Brian Woodward adding 12. Junior Marcel Momplaisir made all four of his shots from the field in scoring 10 points.
Robinson had four steals and shot 7-of-10 from the field and Hellenga hit on 6-of-9 shots. Junior transfer Randy Brooks chipped in with seven points.
Rhode Island shot 62 percent for the game, including 6-of-9 from 3-point land.
The Rams open the season Friday, Nov. 21, when they host Northeastern at the Ryan Center at 7:30 p.m.
