KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) - Jayson Davis rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown to
lead Rhode Island to a 24-0 win over Hofstra on Saturday.
Rhode Island (4-7, 3-5 Atlantic 10) ran for a team total of 438 yards.
Hofstra (2-10, 2-7) finished with 159 yards of total offense in the loss.
Shane Laisle's 23-yard field goal for Rhode Island with 2:45 remaining in
the first half opened the scoring. The kick capped an 11-play, 70-yard drive,
and put Rhode Island ahead 3-0 at halftime.
Luther Green's 21-yard touchdown run midway through the final quarter gave
Rhode Island a 10-0 lead. Davis, who collected 95 rushing yards in the first
half, made the score 17-0 on a 1-yard keeper with 6:39 to play.
Rhode Island closed out the scoring just 37 seconds later on a 38-yard
interception return by linebacker Teddy Gibbons.
