SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) - Lazare Adingono scored 24 points and Dawan
Robinson added 23 on Wednesday night as Rhode Island beat La Salle 77-64.
Rhode Island (15-6, 7-3 Atlantic 10) took a 42-23 lead in the second half
following consecutive three-point plays by Dustin Hellenga and Jon Clark.
But La Salle (10-11, 4-6) went on a run that included three consecutive
3-pointers from Gary Neal, who had a game-high 30 points, to pull within 57-52
with 4:58 to play.
Rhode Island responded with an 8-3 run and Robinson scored six straight
points to put the game away.
Robinson and Adingono combined for 26 of Rhode Island's 32 first-half points
as the Rams took a 32-24 halftime lead.
Adingono opened the game with a 3-pointer and also added two free throws
after a technical foul on La Salle's bench. Robinson, who entered the game when
Rams' leading scorer Brian Woodward got into foul trouble, made an immediate
impact. He scored seven consecutive points, capped by a dunk at 14:39, to give
Rhode Island a 14-2 lead.
La Salle battled back from the early 14-2 deficit to pull within 16-14 at
9:34 on a pair of Dzaflo Larkai free throws. David Bell, who scored six points
in the first half, made two baskets during the 12-2 run.
