NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) - Brooks Hall scored 20 points as No. 25 Dayton
rebounded from its first home loss of the season with an 82-70 win over Rhode
Island on Wednesday night.
Dayton (20-5, 12-2 Atlantic 10) shot 12-of-19 from 3-point range and hit six
consecutive 3s during a key second-half stretch. The Flyers, beaten 73-72 by
Xavier on Saturday, already have clinched a bye in the conference's postseason
tournament.
Trailing 41-39 with 16:40 to play, Dayton went on a 20-5 run. Ramond
Marshall hit three consecutive 3-point shots, while Hall connected on two
3-pointers and made all three free throws after being fouled on another
attempt.
Rhode Island (15-10, 7-7), which lost its fourth straight game, opened the
second half with an 11-0 run, fueled by four points apiece from Brian Woodward
and Lazare Adingono. Woodward led Rhode Island with 18 points and Adingono had
17.
Dayton's largest lead was 66-51 after Hall scored on a layup with 8:45 to
play.
Marshall finished with 17 points and 11 assists. Keith Waleskowski and Mark
Jones scored 15 points apiece for Dayton and Sean Finn added 10, putting all
five Dayton starters in double figures scoring.
Dayton outscored Rhode Island 24-6 down the stretch in the first half to
take a 39-30 halftime lead.
