Men's Basketball Sinks St. Bonaventure, 91-85

KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) - Brian Woodward had career highs of 30 points and 14 rebounds on Wednesday night to lead Rhode Island to a 91-85 win over St. Bonaventure.

Rhode Island (13-6 overall, 5-3 Atlantic 10) didn't hit a field goal in the final 2:51 of the game, scoring its final 17 points from the foul line, including 14-for-14 in the final 1:21.

Mike Gansey led St. Bonaventure with 21 points. The Bonnies leading scorer, Marques Green, scored 18 point on 5-of-22 shooting, including 3-of-15 from 3-point range. The Bonnies (10-11, 4-4) were 8-of-36 on 3-pointers overall, 4-of-21 in the second half.

Rhode Island had a 74-60 lead with 2:51 left when Woodward scored on a drive to the basket for Rhode Island's last field goal of the game. St. Bonaventure climbed back and was within 77-71 when Green hit a 3-pointer with 1:21 to play.

Dustin Hellenga was 4-for-4 in the final 1:21 and had 19 points for the Rams.

The first half featured 15 lead changes and two ties, but Rhode Island took a 40-34 halftime lead on Hellenga's 3-pointer at the buzzer.

The Rams opened the second half with a 10-2 run for a 50-36 lead. Howard Smith hit a 3-pointer, Woodward made a jumper from the baseline, Lazare Adingono made a 3-pointer and Hellenga hit a jump shot in the run.
