Rams Lose In A Shootout With Fordham, 63-28

KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) - Kevin Eakin threw six touchdown passes and ran for another as Fordham rolled to a 63-28 triumph over Rhode Island on Saturday.

Eakin fired three scoring passes from of 15, 2 and 16 yards over the final 5:15 of the first half, giving Fordham (2-0, 0-0 Patriot League) a 42-14 halftime lead. He completed 24 of 33 passes on the day, with 271 yards in offense.

Kirwin Watson, who carried 25 times for 151 yards, opened the scoring for Fordham 2:28 into the game with a run from eight yards out.

Jayson Davis tied the score for Rhode Island (0-1, 0-0 Atlantic 10) with just over three minutes remaining in the first quarter with a two yard sneak.

Eakin found Sean Farrell moments later for a seven-yard touchdown pass to give Fordham a 14-7 lead. He then opened the scoring in the second quarter with a one-yard sneak to put Fordham up 21-7.

Eakin found Javarus Dudley from 16 yards out with 1:49 left in the third quarter. He closed out a school-record performance with his sixth toss to Dudley from 26 yards early in the fourth.

Despite the lopsided loss, Rhode Island amassed 437 yards of total offense in the game to Fordham's 481.
