The Rhode Island women's soccer team played to a 0-0 tie with Xavier on Friday in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Atlantic 10 opponents battled through 90 minutes of regulation play and double overtime for the 0-0 tie.
Goalkeeper Ria Carroll (Warwick, R.I.) recorded eight saves in goal for the Rams while Xavier goalkeeper Andrea Garber made five.
Freshmen Thorunn Helga Jonsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland) and Debra Nelson (Chepachet, R.I.) led the Rams in shots with two and three respectively. Grace Dawson (Wakefield, R.I.), Jessica Gadd (Florence, Ky.) and Megan Kasparek (Trumbull, Conn.) each added to the Rams efforts with one shot each.
Rhode Island out-shot the Musketeers in overtime play 3-1 but were unable to break the tie.
The Rams move to 7-6-2 overall and 4-0-2 in the Atlantic 10 while the Musketeers record goes to 3-2-1 in the Atlantic 10 and 4-9-1 overall.
The Rams will take on Dayton on Sunday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
