SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) - Nick Hartigan ran for two touchdowns to lead
Brown to a 20-13 win over Rhode Island on Saturday.
Hartigan, who ran for 161 yards on 39 carries, gave Brown (2-1) the lead in
the second quarter with his second TD, on a 10-yard run.
Rhode Island (2-2) cut the score to 14-13 with 9:13 left in the first half
on Jason Ham's 4-yard run.
Brown kicker Steve Morgan hit a 23-yard field goal with eight seconds left
in the half giving the Bears a 17-13 halftime. He added a field goal in the
second half.
Rhode Island opened the scoring when Virgil Gray returned a fumble 34 yards
for a touchdown in the first quarter.
Brown answered with Hartigan's first touchdown of the day, from 10 yards
out.
Jayson Davis ran for 90 yards and passed for 36 more to lead Rhode Island.
Brown holds a 65-44-2 edge in the series between the Ocean State rivals,
which dates back to 1909.
