Rams Fall To George Washington, 84-72

WASHINGTON (AP) - Pops Mensah-Bonsu scored a career-high 25 points and 16 rebounds as George Washington defeated Rhode Island, 84-72 Saturday.

It was Mensah-Bonsu's third career double-double.

Rhode Island's Dawan Robinson tied Mensah-Bonsu as the game's highest scorers with 25 points. Terrence Mack added 10 points and six rebounds for the Rams. J.R. Pinnock supplemented the George Washington attack with 18 points, 7 rebounds and two steals.

George Washington (13-8, 7-3) increased its home winning streak to a perfect 10 wins and has only lost twice in nine games. Again, the Colonials dominated in the paint, outscoring the Rams 54-36 and outrebounding a Rams team that came into the game leading the Atlantic 10 on the boards.

Both teams struggled to hang on to the ball at times, combining for 41 turnovers.

Rhode Island (14-9, 3-6) has lost six of its last eight games and has managed only three wins against conference opponents.

Saturday's game attracted George Washington's biggest home crowd of the season, 4,258 fans.
