The Rhode Island women's soccer team will take on the Boston University Terriers on Friday at Nickerson Field at 5:00 p.m. The Rams lead the series 5-4 and currently have a record of 4-4-0 (1-0-0). The Rams are coming off back-to-back wins last weekend. Rhode Island defeated UMass (Sept. 17) in the first conference game of the 2004 campaign and defeated Hartford (Sept.19) winning both games, 4-1.
The Kasparek twins, Megan and Melanie, (Trumbull, Conn.) are tied in points and in goals for the season with eight and three respectively. Senior Claire Landon (Bedford, N.H.) has had a total of three assists and one goal while sophomore Aimee Lambert (Fairport, N.Y.) has had one assist and one game-winning goal.
Freshmen Thorunn Helga Jonsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland, 3) Debra Nelson (Chepachet, R.I., 2) and Jessica Gadd (Florence, Ky., 1) have also been contributing factors for the Rams with a total of seven goals scored between them in their collegiate careers.
The Terrier women's soccer team is ranked second in the Northeast Region and is 6-1-1 on the season after settling for a 0-0 tie to Harvard in double overtime. The Terrier offense has been led by juniors Meghann Cook (Melrose, MA) and Melissa Shulman (Huntington, NY) through the first seven games.
The Rams will be back in action when they take on the New Hampshire Wildcats in a non-conference contest beginning at 1:00 p.m.
