Men's Basketball Downs Duquesne, 76-69

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Scott Hazelton had 23 points and eight rebounds as Rhode Island defeated Duquesne 76-69 on Wednesday.

Hazelton led all scorers for the Rams (4-11, 2-2), who were 0-7 away from home and had lost six of their last seven. The Dukes (4-14, 1-4) have lost four in a row.

Rhode Island's 76 points were a season-high and more than 18 better than their per-game average (57.9) coming in.

The Rams never trailed after Hazelton hit a 3-pointer 5:05 into the game to give Rhode Island a 7-5 lead. The Rams led by 12 at halftime.

Parfait Bitee had 12 points and seven assists and Will Daniels 10 points for the Rams, who shot 56 percent from 3-point range.

Jack Higgins had a season-high 20 points for Duquesne. Bryant McAllister added 18 points and led the Dukes with six rebounds. Other than McAllister, Duquesne's other four starters combined for nine points.
