KINGSTON, R.I. (AP) - Anton Clarkson passed for 415 yards and ran for a touchdown as Hofstra beat Rhode Island 38-24 on Saturday.
Clarkson completed 29 of 36 passes for Hofstra (5-3, 3-2 A10). Devale Ellis caught 11 passes for 138 yards and wideout Charles Sullivan added 116 yards on five receptions.
After Hofstra fumbled on the opening kickoff, Rhode Island (4-5, 2-4) scored first on Brian Giannecchini's 35-yard field goal, making the score 3-0.
The Pride drew even at 3-3 with 9:45 remaining in the first half with Rob Zarrilli's 18-yard field goal.
Kareem Huggins, who scored twice and ran for 91 yards, put Hofstra ahead 10-3 with 1:48 left in the first half with a 12-yard rush, capping Hofstra's 11-play, 79-yard drive. Hofstra kept the 10-3 lead at halftime.
Clarkson's 3-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter put Hofstra ahead 31-10.
Joe Casey carried 28 times for 170 yards for Rhode Island. Quarterback Jayson Davis rushed for 102 yards on 21 carries for the Rams, who rushed for 334 yards.
