SALT LAKE CITY - Rhode Island freshman Jimmy Baron scored a team-high 16 points, including 4-of-5 three pointers, but it was Utah holding off the Rams, 66-50, men's basketball action, Tuesday, in Salt Lake City.
Utah overcame a dismal first half of shooting (9-for-25, 36.0%) and nine turnovers by going 14-for-23 (69.9%) in the last 20 minutes.
Clinging to a 42-41 lead on three of sophomore forward Will Daniels' 11 points with 9:46 to play in the second half, the Rams would go cold as Utah used a 23-4 run over the next 8:39 to make it 64-46 with 1:07 to play and seal the game.
Rhode Island (1-1) travels back home to take on state-rival Brown at 7:00 p.m. this Saturday (Nov. 26) in the Ryan Center.
