SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) - Dawan Robinson scored all of his 18 points in the second half for Rhode Island in a 77-69 win over Providence on Saturday.
Providence (3-2) led 67-65 when Robinson scored 11 consecutive points, nine coming at the foul line, to put Rhode Island (4-1) ahead 76-69.
Robinson added five assists, five rebounds and four steals in 30 minutes of action. He made nine of 10 foul shots in the final 2:22.
Providence took a 67-63 lead on a dunk by Randall Hanke with 5:08 to play, but the Friars didn't score another field goal in the game. Hanke scored 13 of his team-high 14 points in the second half.
Geoff McDermott added 12 for Providence. Donnie McGrath scored 11 points for Providence, but was held scoreless in the second half.
Will Daniels added 18 points and eight rebounds for Rhode Island. Jamaal Wise scored 17 points, with 11 coming in the first half as Robinson and Daniels were limited with foul trouble.
