Rams Fall To Fordham In Final Seconds, 56-54

NEW YORK (AP) - Marcus Stout hit a 3-pointer with 2.7 seconds left to give Fordham a 56-54 victory over Rhode Island on Sunday.

Stout finished with 18 points to help extend Rhode Island's losing streak to eight games.

Scott Hazelton scored 15 points, all in the second half, to lead Rhode Island (4-19, 2-10 Atlantic 10).

Fordham (11-13, 7-6) won its sixth straight at home.

Bryant Dunston gave Fordham its first lead at 30-29 with 15:16 left. Five lead changes and two ties followed before Stout's game-winner from the right baseline.

Rhode Island led 44-40, its biggest advantage of the second half, on Randy Brooks' 3-pointer with 9:26 left. The home team then battled back to a 53-all tie on Kevin Anderson's jumper with 1:04 remaining.

John Lucky made one of two foul shots with 35.3 seconds left to give the visitors a 54-53 lead and set up Stout's heroics.

Dunston had 15 points for Fordham, which trailed 25-22 at the half. Jermaine Anderson added 11.

Terence Mack added 12 for Rhode Island.
