Rams Down Blue Devils, 56-10

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) - Michael Bland returned two blocked punts for touchdowns as Rhode Island cruised to a 56-10 win over Central Connecticut on Saturday night.

The Rams (2-0) also scored off a fumble recovery when Steve Marrella picked up the loose ball and ran it in from 18 yards in the second quarter. That gave the Rams the lead for good at 14-10 with 13:39 left in the half.

Joe Casey led the Rams' ground game with 112 yards on 11 rushes that included a 31-yard TD run in the fourth quarter. Rhode Island had four rushing touchdowns and finished with 382 yards of total offense.

Ram quarterback Jayson Davis completed two-of-six passes, including a 62-yard touchdown strike to Keith Brown in the third quarter.

The Blue Devils (1-1) were led by Marquis Morrison, who had 57 rushing yards and a score. Freshman quarterback Aubrey Morris completed 10-of-14 passes for 99 yards.
