Box Score

KINGSTON, R.I. - In its first home game since September 26th, the Rhode Island men's soccer team recorded a 2-1 win over Temple on Friday night, October 13. Junior Dawid Badecki (Jelenia Gora, Poland) netted the game-winning goal for the Rams off a pass from classmate Lukasz Tumicz (Bisztynek, Poland), who currently leads the conference in assists with seven on the season.

Rhode Island got on the board early when the Temple defense misplayed the ball into their own net at the 3:46 mark. The Owls redeemed themselves 14 minutes later when Ryan Heins played the ball to J.T. Noone who beat URI's freshman goalkeeper Chris Pennock (Middlesborough, England) with a shot into the lower left corner of the net.

With the score tied, 1-1, in the second half, junior Callum Bissett (Pencaitland, Scotland) and senior Jeffrey Gonsalves (Markham, Ontario) fired off back-to back headers that were both saved by Temple's Bryant Hosler. The Rams went on to tally the game-winner at the 72:25 mark when Tumicz got the ball to Badecki, who found the back of the net for his third goal of the season. Badecki nearly scored again, less than three minutes later, when his shot went off the underside of the crossbar but didn't cross the goal line.

In all, URI outshot Temple, 15-3, and out-cornered the Owls by a 9-2 margin.

The Rams (7-4-3, 4-1-0 A-10) return to action on Sunday, October 15, when they host Saint Joseph's (1-9-3, 0-3-1 A-10) at 1:00 p.m.
