BREWSTER, Mass. - Rhode Island senior Ben Spitz finished 1-under par (69-74=143) to edge senior teammate Jesse Larson (68-76=144) by one stroke and lead the Rams to their ninth team championship in 10 years at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championships at the Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Mass.

URI totaled a team score of 588, to outdistance second place Sacred Heart (603) by 15 strokes. Central Connecticut (604), Connecticut (609) and Harvard (611) rounded out the top-five teams in the 43-team field.

"I am particularly thrilled for our seniors who have had such tremendous success at this event over the past four years," said 19th-year head coach Tom Drennan. "I can truly say this win has as much meaning as the first - it never gets old."

Sophomore Mark Stevens (73-76=149) finished tied for eighth at 5-over par, while senior Jason Pannone finished the two-day event tied for 18th at 8-over par (76-76=152).
