NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Rhode Island opens play at the Surf Club Invitational Monday morning, returning to the Myrtle Beach event after a year away in 2024-25.
From 2022-24, the Rams made three straight appearances at the Appalachian State-hosted tournament. URI placed 10th out of 15 teams in 2022, ninth out of 18 in 2023 and then fifth out of 18 in 2024, showing improvement each season. Current team members

Aidan O'Donovan all competed for Rhode Island the last time it played the Surf Club. As a freshman, Liu placed fifth out of 110 golfers at the 2024 version of the event. Â
The 19-team tournament also includes West Georgia, North Carolina A&T, Georgia State, Purdue-Fort Wayne, Iona, Longwood, N.C. Central, Northern Kentucky, Maryland-Eastern Shore, Radford, Boston College, Elon, Augusta, Queens (Charlotte), Connecticut, Coastal Carolina, Butler and host Appalachian State.
Teams will play two rounds on Monday and a single round Tuesday. Longwood is the defending team champion after beating host Appalachian State by two strokes a year ago.
