Rams Take Aim At A-10 Title

ORLANDO, Fla.
- Rhode Island brings an experienced lineup to the 2026 Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Championship, as four of the five members of the Rams lineup have played in the tournament at least once before.

Once again being held at the Evermore Resort's Grand Cypress Golf Course, the three-day tournament begins Monday morning. The Rams will be grouped with George Mason and VCU on Day One. The groups will tee off from hole No. 1 beginning at 7:30 a.m.  It is a strong group to play in, as VCU, URI and George Mason were picked first, third and fourth, respectively, in the A-10 coaches poll earlier this Spring.

Rhode Island will be represented by Tyler Bruneau, Tony Liu, Aidan O'Donovan, Luke Stennett and Josiah Tong. O'Donovan has played the tournament each of the last three years.

"This is the last go-round for Aidan," Rhode Island head coach Gregg Burke said of his senior captain. "This is a legacy tournament for him. I've tried to impress upon him that he needs to think like he's in a Somerville (Mass.) street fight. He has a legitimate chance to win this. At the end of the day, it will come to how tough we are as individuals and as a team."

Junior assistant captain Josiah Tong will be making his third appearance at the championship. He has been consistent at the league championship, finishing 26th in 2024 and 27th last Spring.

Tong and fellow junior Tony Liu - who is making his first A-10 championship appearance - are coming off their best rounds of the Spring, which came at the Penn State-hosted Rutherford Intercollegiate last week. Tong and Liu both shot three-under 68 on the final day at the Rutherford, tying for the lowest round of the day.

"The final round at Penn State University was what we need to do for three rounds at the A10s," Burke said. "It gets repetitive, but it always comes down to late in the round, late in the tournament, and late in the season. Last week Josiah and Tony really stepped up with all that."

Bruneau and Stennett both had solid showings as freshmen at the A-10 championship. Bruneau tied for 22nd overall, while Stennett tied for 28th. Bruneau is coming off his best tournament of the year, finishing third out of 75 at the Rutherford. Stennett has won three tournaments in his career.

Heading into the tournament, VCU (112), Richmond (128), George Mason (136), and Rhode Island (137) all are ranked in the top 140 schools in the latest Scoreboard NCAA Division I Men's Golf Rankings.

"We are clearly one of the top four teams again, competing against three which practice on Bermuda grass every day," Burke said. "We need to play better than those schools by a significant margin to score like they will."
