Rams Close Out Regular Season With Win Over Flyers

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Dawan Robinson scored four points in an 8-0 run to close the game to lead Rhode Island to a 65-56 victory over Dayton on Saturday.

Rhode Island (14-13, 8-8 Atlantic 10) led by as many as 10 points in the first half but trailed 50-46 after Brian Roberts hit a jumper with 8:17 left.

The Rams took the lead for good at 53-52 on Robinson's two foul shots with 6:36 remaining. Norman Plummer hit a layup for Dayton (14-16, 6-10) to cut the lead to 57-56 with 4:08 left but the Flyers didn't score again.

Robinson, who led the Rams with 19 points, hit two foul shots and added a basket, with Jamaal Wise, who had 12 points, making a jumper and Kahiem Seawright scoring on a layup.

Dayton missed its last three shots from the field and had turnovers on its two other possessions.

Jimmy Baron had 14 points and Terrence Mack added 13 for Rhode Island, which held a 40-27 advantage in rebounding.

Roberts scored 18 points and Monty Smith had 14 -- both off the bench -- for the Flyers.
