The
Rhode Island women's soccer team fell to Boston College, 4-2, on Wednesday, September 20. Graduate Amy Cochran (Keene, N.H.) netted both goals for the Rams, her third and fourth of the season.

Rhody was quick to open the scoring, getting on the board just three minutes into the game when junior Thorunn Jonsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland) fed a ball through to Cochran, who scored to give the Rams an early 1-0 lead. Boston College netted an equalizer 12 minutes later when Kia McNeill scored off a corner kick. McNeill put BC up, 2-1, when she send a cross from teammate Jenny Maurer past freshman Amanda Thomas (State College, Pa.) at 28:00.

Cochran struck again for the Rams, this time in the 42nd minute, to send the game into halftime tied at 2 a piece. Junior Deb Nelson (Chepachet, R.I.) assisted on the goal.

In the second half, Maurer drilled a hard shot on goal, which Thomas initially saved, but Tara Luciani was there to grab the rebound and get the ball past Thomas for a 3-2 BC lead. Maurer continued to pressure the Rams' defense, and eventually scored a goal of her own, in the 63rd minute. That would be the final goal of the game as the Eagles went on to post a 4-2 win over Rhode Island.

BC outshot Rhody, 17-11, and held a 5-3 corner kick advantage. Thomas made seven saves for URI while BC's Arianna Criscione made four.

The Rams (3-6) return to action on Wednesday, September 27 when they return to Kingston to host Harvard at 7:00 p.m. For URI, the game will be the first in a five-game homestand after playing the last eight games on the road.
