Rams Earn 3-1 Victory at Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Rhode Island closed out its non-conference schedule tonight with a 3-1 win at Brown.

The Rams got on the board first in the 30th minute, as Dora Larusdottir took a pass from Thorunn Jonsdottir for her eighth goal of the season. URI led, 1-0, at the break.

In the second half, Kassandra Spitler tallied her second goal of the season, converting a cross from Amanda Thomas at the 53:32 mark, to make it, 2-0.

After a Brown goal in the 85th minute, Deb Nelson added to her team-best goals total. She converted a 2-on-1 break with Jonsdottir, putting her shot past Brown's Steffi Yellin, to make it a 3-1 final.

Brown outshot URI, 17-12, for the match, while Rhode Island took six corner kicks to the Bears' three. Jackie Fede played all 90:00 in goal for the Rams, allowing one goal while stopping four shots. Her counterpart Yellin made three stops while allowing the three scores.

With the win, Rhode Island improves to 9-3-2 overall and returns to action this weekend, when it hosts La Salle on Friday, Oct. 19 and Fordham on Sunday, Oct. 21.
