Balanced Offensive Attack Pushes Rhody Past Toledo, 83-57

KINGSTON, R.I. -- Will Daniels led all scorers with 26 points as Rhode Island returned home for the first time since Nov. 9 with an 83-57 win over Toledo.

Daniels was 10-for-15 from the floor, including 2-for-5 from the perimeter. He also added four rebounds and two assists in 27 minutes.

The two teams traded baskets early on, before an 8-2 scoring push gave URI a 15-9 lead with 14:03 left in the half. A Daniels trey with 6:01 to go gave the Rams an 11-point advantage.

Rhode Island connected on 8-of-11 shots heading into the break, en route to a 56.7% (17-30) - in the first half, to open up a 43-28 spread at halftime.

The high shooting percentage continued in the second 20:00 of action, as URI outscored the Rockets, 13-3, to open the frame. Capped by a Daniels dunk, the Rams opened up a 25-point lead with just under 16 minutes left in regulation. All 11 players who saw action tonight for Rhode Island would score

Jimmy Baron added 18 points, connecting of 7-of-12 from the floor (4-8 3FG). Parfait Bitee and Lamonte Ulmer each tallied eight points, while Jason Francis had six. Marquis Jones - in his first action at the Ryan Center - led Rhode Island with eight rebounds and six assists in 20 minutes.

With the win, URI improves to 6-1. The Rams return to action on Wednesday, Nov. 28 when they host Northeastern (Buy Tickets at the Ryan Center. It's the second of a four-game homestand.
