Women's Soccer to Close Out Regular Season This Weekend

KINGSTON, R.I. -- The University of Rhode Island women's soccer team closes out play in the 2008 regular season this weekend, hosting Charlotte and Saint Louis at the URI Soccer Complex.

Rhody is coming off an 0-2 weekend on the road in A-10 play. URI fell, 1-0, at Fordham on Oct. 24. The Rams continued onto Philadelphia and La Salle on Oct. 26, dropping a 4-1 matchup versus the Explorers. Stephanie Santos tallied the lone goal for Rhode Island in the loss.

On Friday, Oct. 31, the Rams (6-11-1 overall; 2-7 A-10) take on nationally-ranked Charlotte (13-3-1 overall; 9-0 A-10). The 49ers sit at #25 on this week's Soccer America poll and are in the midst of a 10-game win streak. Charlotte is coming off a pair of league victories last weekend - a 2-1 win over Dayton on Oct. 24 and a 5-0 blanking of Xavier on Oct. 26.

Game time versus Charlotte is set for 7 p.m.

Saint Louis (9-4-4 overall; 5-3-1 A-10) comes to Kingston sitting in fifth place in the conference standings. The Billikens split a pair of 1-0 decisions last weekend in A-10 play, downing Xavier, 1-0 on Oct. 24 before dropping a 1-0 match against Dayton on Oct. 26.

Kickoff versus Saint Louis is set for 1 p.m. The match also marks the final home appearance for seniors Sarah Helldoerfer and Becca Fish. A Senior Day ceremony will be held prior to the start of the game.
