HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) -Keith Cothran scored 20 points and Will Martell added 18 as Rhode Island defeated Fairleigh Dickinson 95-80 Tuesday night.

The teams played on even terms through much of the first half, and a jumper by John Galvin gave FDU a 22-21 lead with 7:17 to play. Rhode Island (9-4) then went on an 8-0 run, fueled by a pair of dunks by Lamonte Ulmer, to take a 29-22 lead with 5:45 left.

FDU (1-10) closed to 29-25 on a 3-pointer by Cameron Tyler. But RHODE ISLAND pulled away with a 9-0 run and eventually increased its lead to 47-31 at the half.

Martell had a perfect shooting night for the Rams, going 7-for-7 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line.

Tyler had a game-high 25 points and eight assists to lead the Knights, and Terence Grier scored 21.
