Rams Lose Fifth Straight at George Washington

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Will Daniels scored a game-high 24 points while Parfait Bitee and Jimmy Baron each had 13 as Rhode Island dropped its fifth-straight game, 85-68 at George Washington.

Daniels, who scored 19 of his 24 points in the second half, was 7-of-12 from the floor. He knocked down 4-of-8 from the perimeter and 6-of-7 from the charity stripe, to go along with seven rebounds.

The Rams (20-9, 6-8 A-10) never led in the ballgame and struggled offensively throughout the first half. URI didn't score a field goal for close to five minutes, before a Daniels trey put the Rams on the scoreboard. After a Baron three with 10:11 to go in the period made it 17-14, GW went on an 8-1 push to take a 10-point lead (25-15) with 7:46 to go. The Colonials closed the half on a 19-4 run over the final 4:25, taking a 49-25 lead at the break.

Rhode Island outscored George Washington, 25-14, to start the second half and cut the deficit to 12 points - at 70-58, with 5:22 remaining - but could not get any closer. The Rams were 11-of-21 from the floor in the final frame, including 6-of-12 from the outside.

Bitee connected on 3-of-7 from the outside to go along with three rebounds and three assists, while Baron added two three-pointers of his own. Kahiem Seawright led all rebounders with 12. Lamonte Ulmer added seven points and six boards off the bench, while Delroy James had six points and five points.

For the game, Rhode Island shot just 35.3% (18-51) from the floor and 37.5% from the perimeter (9-24). The Rams outrebounded the Colonials, 41-38.
