KINGSTON, R.I. - The University of Rhode Island softball team lost a pair of non-conference games to Boston College Thursday afternoon, falling 4-0 in game one and 8-4 in nine innings in game two. The losses leave the Rams at 14-34 entering this weekend's games at Saint Louis University.

BC starting pitcher Taylor Peyton tossed a no-hitter for the Eagles in the opener. She faced the minimum amount of batters (21), allowing one walk while striking out three. The Eagles (27-26) got the only runs they would need in the third on a two-run home run by Dani Weir. Renee Ramos laced a two-run single in the fifth to double the BC lead.

Senior Jill Anderson (Cohoes, N.Y.) suffered the loss for URI, allowing nine hits and four runs (two earned) over seven innings. She walked one and struck out one in the final home game of her career.

In the nightcap, the Eagles took a 4-0 lead into the fourth before the Rams scored four times to tie the game. Sophomore Leah DiBussolo (East Norriton, Pa.) drove in the first URI run of the afternoon with a single up the middle, and freshman pinch-runner Amie Archambault (Portsmouth, R.I.) and junior Stefani Poedubicky (Wrightstown, N.J.) came around to score on a throwing error later in the frame to make it 4-3. Senior Christine Gentile (West Babylon, N.Y.) tied the game with a single to right field that scored freshman pinch-runner Amanda Sbei (Collegeville, Pa.).

The game remained tied into the ninth, when the Eagles scored four times to grab an 8-4 lead. The game-winning run came in to score on a bunt single by Carley McNar, and both Amy Tunstall and Weir had RBI hits in the inning.

Allison Gage picked up the win, allowing five hits and four runs (one earned) while striking out four in 6.2 innings in relief of starter Savana Lloyd. Freshman Stacey Stanovich (Northbridge, Mass.) tossed nine innings for the Rams, allowing 15 hits and eight runs while striking out five.
