April 3, 2008

Box Score

BOSTON, Mass. - The University of Rhode Island softball team suffered a 2-0 loss to Boston University in non-conference action Thursday afternoon. The Rams (10-20) entered the contest having won three of their last four contests while the Terriers (16-11) ran their win streak to eight games.

BU scored the only run it would need in the first when April Setterlund was hit by a pitch to lead off the game and came around to score on an RBI groundout by Rachel Hebert. The Terriers tacked on an insurance run in the fourth when Brooke Hudson roped a leadoff double and scored on a sac fly by Melanie Delgado.

Kelley Engman allowed two hits and struck out six over seven innings to improve to 4-3 on the season for the Terriers. Senior Jill Anderson (Cohoes, N.Y.) suffered the loss for the Rams, allowing five hits and two runs over six innings of work. She walked two and struck out two.

The Rams return to action on Sunday when they travel to Washington, D.C. for a doubleheader with George Washington. Game one is slated to begin at Noon.
