KINGSTON, R.I. - Senior quarterback
D.J. Stefkovich threw for 163 yards and three touchdowns, but it was not enough as the Rhode Island football team (1-4; 0-2 CAA Football) dropped a 36-28 decision to Towson Saturday afternoon at Meade Stadium.
Rhody outgained Towson 329-323, but had an uncharacteristic three fumbles. Prior to Saturday's contest, URI had only lost three fumbles on the year.
The Rams passed for 163 yards and rushed for 166. Freshman running back Ayo Isijola led the Rhody ground game with a career-high 100 yards on 15 carries and one touchdown.

Defensively for the Rams, senior Steve Weedon and Joe Harris led the way with seven tackles apiece. Weedon also collected a pair of sacks.
Junior Jarrod Williams also chipped in defensively as he collected his third interception in the last two games.
Towson jumped out to an early 20-0 lead just eight minutes into the game as it scored on its first three possessions.
Rhody charged back though, scoring on its next two offensive possessions to cut the Towson lead to 20-14.
Freshman running back Ayo Isijola got the Rams on the board with his first career touchdown from 48 yards out, capping a three-play, 63 yard scoring drive that made the score 20-7.
Stefkovich would then find senior Shawn Leonard in the back of the endzone for a 35-yard strike, giving the Rams' their second touchdown of the afternoon.
Towson responded to the URI scoring drive in the second quarter as Tremayne Dameron scored his third touchdown from six yards out to make the score 26-14.
Rhody cut the Towson lead to 26-21 after Stefkovich found Leonard in the corner of the endzone for their second connection of the afternoon. The Rams' scoring drive was set up by Williams' second interception of the game.
Leonard finished the day with four receptions and a game-high 96 yards receiving.
Towson would then add a 27-yard field goal with 17 seconds remaining in the first half to make it 29-21 at the break.
In the third quarter, sophomore tight end Joe Migliarese recorded the Rams' only points of the period as he hauled his first career touchdown, capping a 10 play, 71 yard drive.
In the fourth quarter, freshman quarterback Peter Athens scored the final points of the game on a 35-yard touchdown run which increased the Tigers' lead to 36-28.
