ORONO, Maine - Senior wide receiver Shawn Leonard caught a team-high six passes for 102 yards and one touchdown, but it was not enough as the Rhode Island football team (1-9; 0-7 CAA) fell 41-17 to Maine Saturday afternoon at Alfond Stadium.

Junior quarterback Chris Paul-Etienne threw for 137 yards, connecting on 13-of-31 of his passes.

Defensively for the Rams, junior linebacker Rob Damon recorded a game-high 12 tackles. Damon's 12-tackle performance marked the seventh time this season he has recorded 10-or-more tackles.

Sophomore kicker Louis Feinstein got the Rams on the board in the first quarter as he connected on a 38-yard field goal as the URI offense scored on its opening possession for the second straight week, going 44 yards in 14 plays on a drive which spanned 6:22.

Paul-Etienne hit redshirt freshman Ty Bynum and Leonard on a pair of fourth down conversions, which kept the drive alive.

Maine responded on its first offensive series as it drove to 70 yards in 10 plays to take a 7-3 lead with 2:28 remaining in the first quarter.

Rhody took a 10-7 lead into the locker room as it scored the only touchdown of the second quarter. Paul-Etienne found Leonard for a 35-yard touchdown pass to give the Rams a 10-7 lead. Paul-Etienne's pass capped an eight play, 78-yard drive.

In the third quarter, Maine scored a pair of touchdowns to take a 21-10 lead, but Rhody would not go away as it cut the Black Bear lead to 21-17 thanks to a 45-yard interception return for a touchdown by freshman cornerback Ellis Foster.

Foster's interception was the first of his career and it marked the fourth time this season, URI's defense had scored a touchdown.

Maine quarterback Chris Treister led the Black Bears into the endzone two plays later to give Maine a 28-17 lead at the end of the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Maine outscored Rhody 13-0 to secure the win.

Rhody returns to action on Nov. 21 as it welcomes Northeastern to Meade Stadium for senior day. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m.
