KINGSTON, R.I. - Senior guard Keith Cothran scored a season-high 21 points as the Rhode Island men's basketball team improved to 6-1 on the year following an 83-74 victory over Quinnipiac.

Cothran connected on 10-of-11 shots from the field and was one of three players, who finished in double figures.

Junior forward Delroy James and senior forward Lamonte Ulmer each finished with 19 and 12 points, respectively. Ulmer also pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

The Bobcats jumped out to a 15-10 lead in the opening six minutes, but Rhody charged back to take an 18-17 lead with 11:32 remaining in the first half. Over the next seven minutes, no team would lead by more than five points.

In the final minutes, Rhody outscored Quinnipiac 7-6 to take a 38-32 lead into the locker room. Cothran scored all seven of the Rams' points during the final stretch of the first half.

Cothran scored a team-high 15 points in the first half connecting on 7-of-8 from the field. Cothran's 15 first half points were the most he has scored in the first half of play. James chipped in with seven first half points as he connected on 3-of-6 shots from the field.

Coming out of the locker room, Rhody opened up an 11-point second half lead with 16:10 to go in the game. Six minutes later, URI pushed its lead to 20 points and appeared to have the game well in hand.

Quinnipiac had other ideas as it trimmed Rhody's lead to eight thanks to a 12-0 run, which spanned just over four minutes. Rhody responded by scoring the next four points to push its lead back to double digits.

The Bobcats made one last push in the final two minutes as they cut the lead to seven, but it would get no closer as Rhody improved its all-time mark to 2-0 over Quinnipiac.

Rhody returns to action on Thursday (Dec. 10) as it welcomes Northeastern to the Ryan for a 7 p.m.
