BOSTON -- Rhode Island dropped a 2-0 decision at Boston University tonight, in the 2009 regular season opener for both teams.

The first half was a defensive battle, as both teams combined to attempt just six shots - four for BU and two for URI. In the 25th minute, Kassandra Spitler broke free and put a shot on goal, which was saved by Terriers' goalkeeper Janie Reilly. Rams' goalkeeper Jackie Fede made a stop on the lone shot she faced.

In the second period, Boston University got on the scoreboard at the 58:10 mark. Jessica Luscinski took a cross from the outside of the box by Megan McGoldrick, and put it into the right corner, past the diving Fede. BU's Cynthia Warman added an unassisted goal in the 88th minute.

Fede saw all 90:00 in goal for the Rams, making four saves.

Rhode Island was outshot for the match, 15-3, and attempted two corner kicks. There were no cautions in the game.

URI makes its home debut on Sunday, Aug. 30, when it hosts New Hampshire at the URI Soccer Complex at 1 p.m.
