Box Score

BRONX, N.Y. -- Keith Cothran had 26 points and Lamonte Ulmer a career-high 24 as Rhode Island used 32-4 second half run to pull away from Fordham, 85-67, in the Bronx on Saturday afternoon.

Cothran scored 18 of his 24 points in the first half, knocking down 4-of-5 from the outside, while pulling down six rebounds. Ulmer added a career-best 14 rebounds for the Runnin' Rams (14-2; 2-1 A-10) in the victory - URI's sixth true road win of the season.

Two Cothran treys and a putback by Ulmer paced a fast start for Rhode Island in the first 3:00 of play, but Fordham (2-14; 0-4 A-10) would fight the rest of the half.

The home team Rams led by as many as four (22-18) with 9:36 remaining in the half. Rhody would not trail the rest of the way after a Cothran jumper with 4:26 left in the period made it 30-28. URI would lead 40-36 at the break.

In the second half, Fordham tied it at 44 after a Chris Gaston layup with 16:54 to play. One of the top newcomers in the A-10, Gaston recorded game-highs of 29 points and 16 rebounds.

From the point on, it was all Rhode Island. Marquis Jones began the run, with long 2-point jumper with 16:35 to play and over the next eight minutes, six URI players would score - including six dunks and two 3-pointers. Cothran closed out the run with a fast break dunk, making it 76-48 with 8:28 to play.

Akeem Richmond had nine points off the bench (3-8 3FG), while Orion Outerbridge added eight points. Will Martell chipped in with six points, three rebounds and three blocked shots and Delroy James had six points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals.

Next up for Rhode Island is a Wednesday night matchup against Duquesne. Game time is set for 7 p.m. and the game can be seen live locally on Cox Sports Television, as Eric Frede and Abu Bakr will call the action.

Additionally, the Beltone New England Rams Radio Network with Steve McDonald and Don Kaull will broadcast the game live on B101 (101.5 FM), beginning with the Cox pre-game show at 6:30 p.m.
