Rams Shutout at Duquesne, 3-0

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Rhode Island women's volleyball team (11-10; 2-6 Atlantic 10) dropped a 3-0 decision to Duquesne Sunday afternoon at the Palumbo Center.

Freshman Britta Baarstad was the only Ram to reach double-figures in kills as she finished with 11 terminations and an attack percentage of .310. Defensively for the Rams, junior Lindsay Potts recorded a team-best 11 digs.

The Dukes took control of the match in the early going as they claimed a 25-18 victory in game one. Duquesne increased its match advantage to 2-0 as it posted a 25-20 triumph, outhitting Rhody .250-.244.

In the third game, the Rams jumped out to a 6-2 advantage, but Duquesne fought back to even the set at 15 apiece.

Duquesne would then go on to open up a 20-17 lead, but the Rams fought back and won five of the next seven points to even the set at 22 apiece, but the Dukes closed out the set and the match as they won three of the next four points to earn a 25-23 victory.

Rhody returns to home on Saturday, Oct. 23 to take on Fordham. The match is set to begin at 4 p.m. inside Keaney Gymnasium.
