First Round Results

PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. -- Branden Chicorka carded four birdies in the first round of play, good for an even-par 70 at the Philadelphia Big 5 Invitational.

His score puts him in a tie for fourth place for the two-day, 36-hole tournament, which is being contested at the Plymouth Country Club (par 70, 6,570 yards).

Patrick Pelletier is tied for 19th place, with a first round 73, followed by John Kelly who sits two strokes behind (75) in a tie for 42nd place. Taylor Fontaine (t54th, 76) and Ben Conway (t66th, 77) round out the Rhody golfers.

Rhode Island sits in eighth place as a team, with a first round total of 294 (+14). Furman sits atop the team standings, with a 3-over 283. The Rams are first among all Atlantic 10 and second among all New England schools in the 21-team field.

Tournament play concludes on Sunday, Oct. 9.
